Update on broadband:
Apparently our problem is a roadside cable which needs to be replaced. The ‘outages’ are getting longer, with no service at all for most of the weekend. Apologies again for continued absence.
As soon as it’s fixed, I’ll be back.
Be good x
Be good….where’s the fun in that Jessica 🙂
I hope the powers that be are onto it and Rusty Duck is able to resume normal service sooner rather than later.
It was worth a try! 🙂
Primrose and Daisy have offered to come and do a morse code telegraph service for you. I think they called it ‘Chick Chat Toe.’ They’ll do it for a bit of grass and a few sunflower seeds. And lemon meringue pie.
It’s a generous offer Denise, I hope you will thank them for me. We have the pigeons too of course but they seem far too busy flapping in the trees, fighting or mating or whatever, to be fussed about message carrying.
Did I say Daisy? I meant Camilla. Camilla is now ignoring me and in a huff…flipping chickens…
No egg for your breakfast tomorrow then..
Good Luck – hope it is sorted soon
Thanks Sue.
How frustrating. Funnily enough I’ve just been researching broadband in a rural area and apparently satellite is the only realistic answer. Fortunately a satellite connection is available locally which can be tailored to suit our needs. Can’t say I truly understand, I do after all date from the days when I used to communicate with my overseas clients by telex! Haven’t we come a long way?
Ha! I’d written a long response last night just before I got cut off again. Beattie must have been reading..
We’re supposed to be getting super fast broadband in the next few months and had intended to give that a try before going over to satellite. But the way it’s going, it may be sooner. We have come a long way, it’s easy to forget that when we complain about the service we get nowadays. The difference now perhaps is that so much of our lives depend on it. I rarely ‘go shopping’ anymore. Almost everything is online.
How frustrating! I hope things are back to normal soon!
Thanks Peter. I’m missing my blog fix!
So infuriating! I feel your pain. X
It’s pretty bad down here isn’t it.
Hope that you get sorted soon Jessica …… it’s like having your right arm cut off, isn’t it ?!!!!!! XXXX
I can’t make a direct comparison thankfully, but there is certainly something missing!!
I can’t offer any technical advice, but I could teach you semaphore ………
You stand on top of your hill and I’ll stand on top of mine.. might work?
I learned semaphore when I was in the Brownies, so I might be a little bit rusty. Shall we do it by day with flags, or by night with lamps?!
Crikey Anne, you’re more advanced than me.. I never got as far as lamps!!
Absolutely infuriating. I do hope it’s sorted soon. CJ xx
Thanks CJ. It’s become a ritual to watch the light on the router… blue or orange? Or even worse (because it’s usually promise unfulfilled..) flashing orange.
What a pain!!! I hate losing contact so get how you feel. Hoping all is well soon!xxx
There’s no mobile signal here either so I am pretty much cut off internet wise. First thing to do when it does come back is get a grocery order in!
It’s always terrible to be without the internet – let’s hope it gets sorted out once and for all!
Replacing the cable is the third thing they’ll have tried so I’m hopeful but not yet fully convinced. We shall wait and see. Thanks Matt.
How frustrating for you, i hope they get it sorted quickly for you x
Thanks Joanne, very frustrating.
G’luck! I’ve been trying to be very, very good, but I’m about finished with our current provider. On the other hand, the satellite companies out here don’t seem to have much love wasted on them and they have the same (or worse) data caps, so I’ve held off switching… No one has really designed the technology for those of us who live in the boondocks :-/
Boondocks… I shall have to remember that word! You’re right though. The same the world over by the sound of it.
The wonders of technology…
It is good when it is working 😉
Indeed. And then it sucks us in so we can’t do without it.
Hope you are managing without internet connections……. I would just about manage for a day and then I would have severe withdrawal symptoms if I couldn’t get on to the internet!
It comes and goes but is tortuously slow at the best of times. I’m getting a few magazines read and piles of paper cleared!
Frustrating, but at least you will be able to get on with other stuff, it’s amazing how much time you find you have when the internet disappears 😉
That’s very true. Until it started raining again I’d made good progress in the garden. And the house is sparkling!
hope you are back online soon. Does your library have internet access in the meantime?
It’s too far away to be practical really. I just grab my opportunities when I get them and prioritise what I need to do when I do get time online. It’s the little things that make me realise how much I took it for granted, like being able to quickly find the height of something before planting it.
Oh no! I’d be lost without Internet connection – I LIVE through my computer! Hope it gets fixed properly soon, Britain is soooo behind when it comes to proper, good broadband service for everyone.
Yes, I depend on it too being so far from a good shopping town. However I’m learning that I can do quite a bit with mobile apps, even if I do have to walk or drive a little way to get a decent signal! That’s another area where we fall woefully behind.
Be good?! We are all having a massive party behind your back and being terribly naughty, Obviously we will sit nicely at our computers and concentrate sensibly on our blogs when you return to the land of the connected. Until then……
PS Please come back soon – all this partying is exhausting.
Stranded out here in the cold and the rain, precious few people to talk to… and now not even a party invite 🙁
We’ll try to be good…
That’s the spirit!
Welcome.
