Tomorrow rusty duck blog is three years old.
Just how did that happen then?
There are never enough opportunities to say it, but this is one..
Thank you, sincerely, for reading rusty duck. For comments that raise a smile. For encouragement and advice freely given. And yes, even for the offer of a raccoon..
I wonder what the next three years will bring?

Congratulations and I love the new duck. Mum goes into a home on Wednesday so at some point, once I’ve done both our tax returns and sorted out the POA, I might get back to blogging myself! Xxx
Just done our tax returns Em …… I HATE that job !!!!!! XXXX
It’s the next job that I hate – paying it!!!
At least that’s something I don’t have on the to-do list.. tax return. Mike loves forms. Online ones especially. Still have to pay it though 🙁
Take care Em.
Love the duck, just perfect for your garden. Congrats on three years.
Thanks Linda. He’s cute isn’t he? Or she.
Congrats on three years Jessica ……. mine is just over six years old now and it takes a fair bit of commitment. Things have changed over the years and many of my ‘ friend’s and followers ‘ have given up blogging, some in favour of Facebook. BUT ….. I keep plodding on and really hope that we will be blogging mates for many more years ! Much love. XXXX
Thanks Jackie. I hope you do plod on and as long as you do we’ll be blogging mates. I can’t get the hang of Facebook, I don’t know why. Everything seems so complicated. It’s probably just me.
Hi Jessica!
I so love visiting here….
You always put a smile on my face, and the photography is exquisite!
Happy 3rd birthday….
Cheers! To many more….
Linda :o)
You’re very kind Linda, thank you.
Well done on keeping going, Jessica. I love reading your blog and keeping up with what’s happening in your corner of the world. They say getting past the first year is the hardest with blogging so hopefully we’ll now have plenty more tales from you on your blog! Caro xx
The first year is definitely the hardest but it doesn’t get that much easier does it. It’s the time commitment that I struggle with now. But from trying to keep to a regular schedule, as you are supposed to do, I’ve now decided only to blog when I’ve got something specific to blog about. It takes a lot of the pressure off. After all, it is supposed to be fun.
Congratulations and let;s hope the next three years are kind ones. I do enjoy reading your blog
Kind ones for all of us. Thanks Sue.
Congratulations and thank you for all the beautiful photos of your garden and travels. The birds and I will always be grateful for learning about the Twirl-a Squirrel. I wish you many more happy years with your blog.
Thanks Cheryl. I hope the TwirlASquirrel is working well. The brighter ones do learn how to get around it eventually. We wait until almost the end of the third twirl and then give them a blast with the water pistol. They get the message.
Congratulations Jessica I sometimes think I will start a blog just to join in with some of the memes but I don’t think I have the staying power well done I do love keeping up with all your goings on
It is a lot of work, certainly more time consuming than ever I envisaged before I started it, but also a lot of fun. Go for it! If I can help let me know.
Congratulations Jessica – it is always lovely to visit you here and I love the way the Rusty Duck family seems to be spreading its wings and growing!
I bought this one last year at Knightshayes NT shop, couldn’t resist it! Thanks Rosemary.
Congratulations, Jessica. Your blog is a delight and I always learn something new here. Best wishes for many more years of contented blogging.
The best thing about blogging is linking up with people such as yourself who live in very different parts of the world. And yet we have so much in common! I love that. Thanks Jennifer.
Love it.x
The duck should be yellow really.. Thanks Jill.
Congratulations Jessica! It’s been fun. Here’s to many more adventures! X
It has been fun. But don’t you get days when you wish you’d bought a house and garden that had already been done? 🙂
Have enjoyed reading your posts, and hope that you continue with letting us know what is happening in your part of the world. :Lovely photos, nice writing, and an all round splendid blog. Vx
Vera, you’re very kind. Thank you. And thanks for sending some of your warm weather this way too, should be a good week to be outside.
Lots more fun, I hope! Many happy returns Jessica.
Thanks Sarah.
Happy blogaversary Jessica, yours is a blog I always love to read, I’m always learning something and being entertained. And I’m so excited you’re getting a raccoon, I shall enjoy following his adventures very much. CJ xx
I really don’t think I should keep the raccoon all to myself you know. Apparently they’re very fond of slugs, so I’d be happy to lend him out to those with hostas..
Your blog is beautiful and I always look forward to delving into your wonderful garden and seeing what’s blooming! Happy three years! 🙂 Katie x

In reality it’s only a tiny bit of the garden that looks any good, but if I keep working outwards from that bit perhaps I’ll crack it in the end. Perhaps. Thanks Katie.
Thank you for your blog. I always enjoy it and your photographs are wonderful!
Thanks Freda. I wish we were closer, I’d love to see your garden and visit your studio. One day I hope.
Congratulations and may you have many more years writing your entertaining and informative blog.
Thanks Dorothy. I hope you had a very enjoyable wedding anniversary celebration.
Congratulations!
I am a recent reader of your blog.
Great photographs
Great content
Here’s to many more years!!

Hi Reta, it’s great to hear from new readers and welcome to rusty duck! Thank you for your very kind comments.
Oh well done Jessica, 3 years, what an achievement! I hope you keep it going for many years to come, your blog is always such fun to read.
There have been many times when I’ve felt like giving it up, you know how much time it takes up, but I never quite do. It’s the contact with readers and other bloggers I’d miss so much.
Happy blog anniversary, Jessica! (You have 6 months, to the day, on me.) I love your posts and look forward to many more.
We’ve taken on a similar challenge and it’s fascinating to compare notes, especially as we garden in such different climates. I wish I could send you some rain.
Happy Blogbirthday Em, I do so enjoy reading about your little piece of paradise. Thank you too for including us in your trips away. I love coming with you, and they’re on my list of ‘must visit’ places when we’re across your side of the world. Your pictures are exquisite. Thank you
You’re very welcome Virginia. Your trip must be coming up, is it next year?
Yes Jessica. I’ll be in touch to get your advice before we come. Current plans are for September – October. The academic year determines when we can come, unfortunately.
The weather is usually good in September and in recent years into October too. Not a bad time to come at all. And obviously with the schools back in business over here it’s quieter too.
We are always guaranteed great content when we visit Rusty Duck. You always have an entertaining tale to tell Jessica. Well done on reaching 3 years.
Thanks Angie. There is never a dull moment around here that’s for sure. The critters conspire to make it so, I’m convinced of that.
Congratulations on 3 years! I always look forward to seeing the ‘rusty duck’ in the reader 🙂
Thanks for all your help with plant IDs etc. Matt. You’ve been a great source of inspiration too.
All the best for the next three and beyond, it’s a pleasure being able to follow along on your adventures!
Thank you and likewise with yours!
Time flies when you’re having fun Jessica. Congratulations on three years of blogging and long may ‘Rusty Duck’ bloom and flourish. Your latest duck looks as if it could scare off all the marauders and destroyers of plants 🙂
I really don’t understand how three years can have gone by so quickly. Especially the last one. Does time speed up as we get older? It certainly feels like it. The close up picture of the duck is deceptive, he’s probably only about four inches high!
Congratulations on three years blogging, I am looking forward to the next three.
Love the duck picture 🙂
Thanks Cherie. The duck is cute isn’t it? I love the way the head is tipped back over its shoulder.
Congratulations Jessica, it is always interesting & often amusing to read about your trials & tribulations in both the garden and house.
Thank you for your encouragement to me as a relative new blogger. Keep going.
Brian, your garden is beautiful and opening it up to the public is no mean feat. I hope I can get mine to that standard one day.
Congratulations on three years of your blog. As a newcomer, I’ve found yours an inspiring and enjoyable read and it’s been great to connect with other gardeners. Here’s to many more creative blogging years. Sam x
That’s the best bit, learning from others and sharing experiences. There are plants and plant combinations in the garden that I’d never have thought of were it not for reading other blogs. Thanks Sam.
Congratulations Jessica! So glad our paths have crossed.
Me too Susie. Thanks!
Happy 3rd, Jessica 😀 It’s been so great to follow along – I’m always happy to see you have a new post!
It doesn’t seem like three years, it catches up with you very quickly! Thanks Amy.
Congratulations! And here’s to many more!
Thanks Beth 🙂
Happy Anniversary, Jessica! We’re all so glad you’re a blogger.
I’ve enjoyed following you too Janna, good to see so many beautiful gardens in Oz. And we share a similar taste in design.
Happy 3rd Anniversary Jessica, here’s to many more good years to come, I do not always comment but love your posts and following the progress in your cottage too.
There’ll be more on the cottage in the next week or so. Believe it or not the study is almost finished!
Thank* you* for blogging, long may it continue :o)
Thanks Annie.
and thank YOU for the smiles you bring to my life every time i visit!!!
Likewise Steph. You and Freddy 🙂
Happy 3rd Birthday. I have enjoyed sharing your slopey dilemmas, as only a fellow slope owner can. Your rusty ducks always make me smile and as for the spinning squirrels well……
The squirrels are driving us mad at the moment. More than we can chase off in one go. More slope dilemmas tomorrow 🙁
Yay!!! Congratulations on your blogaversary!!! Here’s to many more years of great blogging! xx
Thanks Amy. Doesn’t time fly!
Congratulations – and long may you continue and inspire us:-)
You’re too kind Janice, thanks. I’m not sure about inspire!
(Sings in the style of Cliff Richard) Ahem…’Congratulations…and celebrations…now that your blog has reached the happy age of three! Congratulations….and jubilations….reading your blog makes me as happy as can beeeeeeeeeeee!!!’
(Does a celebration dance in the kitchen. Looks for celebratory cake in tin…empty tin…darn it!)
Xxx
Oh gosh. (Blushes)
When we get to the big five I shall commission a cake specially. This means Andy has got two years to work up a design. No prizes for guessing what colour the icing will be.
Congratulations on your 3rd bloggy anniversary Jessica !
I hope you continue sharing your garden and home adventures, inspiration and expertise with us for many more years to come.
~Jo
Thanks Jo. I think you and I must have been together from almost the beginning. It’s been great to have you along and to follow the goings on in Tennessee as well. Take care.
Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your home and garden projects with us illustrated by wonderful photos and written with such good humour. Also for taking the time to reply to comments. Looking forward to more whatever way your inspiring blog takes in the future.
Truthfully, if I didn’t laugh I would cry! Thanks Linda.
Congratulations! Doesn’t time fly? Love your new duck!xxx
It certainly does. Thanks snowbird.
A rather belated Congratulations on your third anniversary. I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing your lovely photographs. You always bring a smile to my face so I do hope you continue for many more years. I know some people like the discipline of regular blogging and it is fun to take part in some of the the memes but I have never managed it myself and it is always a nice surprise if you receive a post from someone when you were not expecting it.
Thanks Annette. The pressure to post regularly is too much for me, there are just too many other commitments. I’m always running to catch up as it is, especially when it comes to reading everyone else’s posts. I just dip into it and do what I can.
Congratulations on your 3rd blogging birthday. It is always a deligjht to pop by and the next 3 years… maybe you will get the upper hand with your many varied visitors. Also we will have lots more DIY tips and images of your wonderful garden through the seasons and also not forgetting your day trips out with a nursery close by! Sarah x
Thanks Sarah. The nursery close by is the first stage of the journey planning process!
Congratulations, Jessica! I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog! Here’s to many more years of Rusty Duck!
Thank you Peter!
Just catching up….Happy Third Anniversary!
Many thanks Donna.
